About YIMBY Dems SD
The YIMBY Democrats of San Diego County is the first Democratic club for YIMBYs in the nation! California is in the midst of a dire housing crisis. San Diego County needs to build many more homes, both deed-restricted affordable and market rate, especially near transit and employment centers. More homes are good!MEET THE YIMBY DEM TEAM
We are a solutions-driven housing advocacy organization.
Our goal is to work with government officials, community groups, companies, organizations and individual stakeholders to advocate for an accessible, equitable, sustainable San Diego. We believe the most effective way to move San Diego out of the housing crisis is to first, increase our housing stock.
Overall, we support housing development that meet our core values:
- INCREASE SAN DIEGO'S HOUSING SUPPLY
- More new homes of all income types are necessary to achieve affordability and desegregation; prevent displacement and homelessness; and create diverse, mixed-income neighborhoods.
- LEGISLATIVE REFORM
- Government should explore ways to expand investment and incentives available to create permanently affordable homes.
- COMBAT CLIMATE CHANGE
- Increased development capacity for new homes should be focused toward infill, transit, and jobs to combat climate change and to protect open space.
- ADVANCE ECONOMIC INCLUSION
- Housing policy should advance economic inclusion and opportunity for all San Diegans.
